When blood transfusion was first performed by ordinary syringes, many transfusion apparatus developed later. They were usually based on the multi-tap principle, so the apparatus n. OEHLICKER.

 


Before starting the transfusion, the whole system had to be filled with saline and rinsed with saline between two blood fillings. Otherwise, it would inevitably lead to the formation of coagulates in the system. For this reason, this method was later expanded to include the option of flushing the system without dispensing the syringe using a three-way stopcock (Rotanda Syringe, Assa Syringe, BRAUN-TZANCK, and ROTH).

The technique of TZANCK proved itself in the assassination attempt on the French President on May 6, 1932. Here, a Luxembourger was given a noble task:
"The persons who gave their blood for the President are: Melle KRIEDEL, nurse in the service of Dr. Ing. TZANCK and the head waiter Robatel, rue de Lisbonne, who is registered as a blood carrier on the lists for urgent blood transfusion "(Echternacher Anzeiger, 11.5.1932).
"To the death of Paul Doumer Miss Jeanny Kridel, born January 28, 1908 in Dudelange, daughter of Mr. Johann Peter Kridel, metallurgist, Schifflingen, has, together with Mr. Robatel, Maitre d'Hôtel, Paris, their blood to save the President Miss Jeanny Kridel is a native of Luxembourg, the same is the Infirmiere of Dr. Tzanck in Paris, who carried out the first operation, After the transfer of blood by Miss Kridel, Mr. Doumer spoke again "(Escher Tageblatt, 12.5.1932).
Doumer did not survive the shots of the Russian doctor (!) Paul Gorguloff (1895-1932), despite the noble blood donation ...

The cutlery presented here comes from a disbanded Bundeswehr depot (Stuttgart area), whose old holdings were taken out of service.
